How do schools complete the UDISE+ Student Module progression, PEN generation, and Aadhaar validation?
UDISE+ Student Module Diagnostic & Workflow Navigator
Resolve student progression, drop-box import errors, missing PEN numbers, and Aadhaar mismatches.
- Annual examination marksheets and total school attendance days for previous session.
- Clear demarcation of students who left school with or without Transfer Certificate (TC).
Crucial: Once finalized, the progression of that class cannot be reverted without district MIS coordinator intervention.
The Three Mandatory Pillars of Student Profile: GP, EP & SF
Under Ministry of Education directives, every student entry remains incomplete until all three data sections are individually filled, saved, and validated:
Covers student name, gender, date of birth, mother's and father's name, Aadhaar number, name as on Aadhaar, social category (General/SC/ST/OBC), minority status, and CWSN status.
Tracks admission number, admission date, class roll number, academic stream (Arts/Science/Commerce for 11th-12th), previous academic year grade, attendance days, and medium of instruction.
Records government welfare receipts: free textbooks, uniforms, transport allowances, bicycle schemes, iron/folic acid tablets, screening for learning disorders, and gifted child status.
The Permanent Education Number (PEN) Lifecycle
The Permanent Education Number (PEN) is the digital backbone of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). Here is how a student's digital identity migrates between schools:
| Lifecycle Stage | Action by Previous School | Action by New School | Status on UDISE+ |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Student Leaves | Marks 'Left School with TC' during progression | — Pending Admission — | In Drop Box / Inactive |
| 2. PEN Retrieval | — Record Released — | Searches PEN via Aadhaar on Import Module | Drop Box Located |
| 3. Student Import | — Transferred Out — | Assigns new Class, Section & Admission Date | Imported to New School |
| 4. Profile Validation | — Completed — | Updates GP, EP, SF and validates Aadhaar with UIDAI | 100% Active & Verified |
Step-by-Step SOP: School Principal Login & Data Certification
To certify student enrolment data for official administrative reporting, follow these sequential steps:
Log In to the Respective State Student Portal
Access udiseplus.gov.in, select your state from the dropdown menu, and sign in with the school's 11-digit UDISE code and master password.
Execute and Finalize Progression Activity
Under Progression Activity, update the examination marks and attendance for 100% of enrolled students from the previous year. Complete the section-by-section finalization.
Enroll New Admissions & Import Drop Box Students
For Grade 1 or Pre-Primary, use 'Add New Student'. For Grade 2 and above, strictly use 'Import Module' via PEN to avoid creating unauthorized duplicate identities.
School-Level Certificate of Completion (Data Certification)
Once all student profiles reflect 'Completed' in green, navigate to 'Certificate of Completion'. The Principal verifies overall counts, downloads the summary report, and submits the digital certification.
